அன்புடன்;

War and its consequences in Sri Lanka
In the meantime it became a sad comprehension that no end can be anticipated in the ethical conflict and the warlike hassle in Sri Lanka. Any efforts for peace with the aid of the international community under the guidance of the Norwegian government are barely visible. Most supporters and actors in the process of peace are helpless and do no longer count on rapid changes. Although the UN and other committees argue for a peaceful solution, the Sri Lankan government, the LTTE and the Kurana group follow their path of war.
Human rights are spurned in Sri Lanka pretending to wage a "war against terrorists". Whoever has a heart to speak critically and frankly in public, has to face threats, aspersions, imprisonments and even murder. Dedicated journalists are imprisoned at random and more than a dozen journalists were killed by unknown culprits.
The negative environmental influences in this armed conflict usually get little attention, although the environment in Sri Lanka is heavily battered.
However those who dealt with political developments in Sri Lanka on a long term do not abandon hope. During this conference we want to discuss the current situation and the recent developments together with the Sri Lankan Diaspora and experts from Sri Lanka and Europe. We try to find solutions to resolve the problems step-by-step.
You are cordially invited to join this conference in Bad Boll. The conference language will be English with qualified translation between English, Tamil, Sinhalese.

Sri Lanka: Is war the only solution for the conflict? After the peace treaty was terminated at the beginning of 2008 by the Sri Lankan government, the military battle actions intensified themselves. Journalists and human right activists, critics of the government are pursued or “disappear”, the costs of living climb extremely, corruption and nepotism are becoming normal. With the slogan Anti terror fight, the government sets exclusively on the military solution and promises to overcome yet the LTTE finally in 2008. The LTTE on their part promises a free Tamil Eelam. In spite of these very negative developments, there is no other persistent
way as to find a political civil solution for the conflict. This conference will refer to the earlier Sri Lanka conferences in Bad Boll in order to strengthen the peace political approaches in the Sri Lankan civil society and to find support on the international level. Sri Lankan speakers report on the current situation in the country. Moreover we exchange views with international NGOS about experiences and perspectives on the conflict solution in Sri Lanka. Representatives of the German government, the EU and UN are invited in order to discuss about exits out of the muddled situation in Sri Lanka.
You are cordially invited to Berlin. The conference language will be English with qualified translation between English, Tamil and Singhalese.
